Brooklyn is westernmost county on Long Island and contains dozens of distinct neighborhoods, representing many of the major ethnic groups found within the New York City area. The borough has its own downtown, which is the commercial section.

The West Indian Labor Day Parade takes place every Labor Day on Eastern Parkway. Brooklyn has the world-renowned Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the second largest public art collection in the United States, housed in the Brooklyn Museum. In the evening, enjoy live music at the Knitting Factory.

Kanzan Cherries in bloom at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, enjoy the rides at The Astroland in Coney Island, and visit Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Prospect Park is a public park in central Brooklyn with Prospect Park Zoo, The Boathouse, and the Prospect Park Bandshell that hosts free outdoor concerts in the summertime; and various sports and fitness activities including seven baseball fields.
